Letters from Henrietta: Day 3

Hey Mom,

How are you doing this lovely day?   I saw that you and your sisters spent a little time mooing at me and my siblings.  Sorry we didn't come over; we were laying out in the sun with the other calves.  I feel bad that you are still so upset.  I mean, we're still right next to each other, just separated by a gate, you know?

The heifers were taking selfies by the windbreak this morning so we decided to join in.  Hope and Loretta were using a nice stick to take selfies until that brown and white thing that chased Banty a few times ran off with it.

How is the food over there?  The food here is great!  I think I've gained about six pounds in the last three days (editor's note: after weaning, the calves will actually gain over two pounds per day).

The farmer was walking around in the feedlot yesterday.  He walked really slowly like he was studying us or something.  I noticed that he has very poor taste in what to wear and color coordination.  We were going to offer him some color suggestions, but he got too close to one of the steers who jumped, which scared us, so we all ran away.

He then walked to the other side of the feedlot where we were and continued to walk slowly and act funny.  Rowdy is still pretty wary of him from the time when the farmer sat on Rowdy's head and did something to him that was painful for a few hours.  Rowdy always keeps at least one heifer between him and the farmer.

Edwin has been enjoying himself over here.  He plays shuffleboard with the other heifers over by the lick tubs and studies nature by the fence.  There were birds everywhere today!  They are so noisy!  They even drown out you and Rowdy's mother's mooing.  I think they were looking for worms or something.  Odd.

Anyways, time for our afternoon snack!

Later,

Henrietta
